The Grammy winner is paying homage to Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott, and more.

Victoria Monét has finally released the highly-anticipated video for her next single, “Alright,” off her Grammy-winning debut album, JAGUAR II.

The visual for the Kaytranadaproduced hit is a homage to some of Monét’s idols including Missy Elliott, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, and Hype Williams’ Belly. Directed by Dave Dave Meyers, Sean Bankhead‘s choreography takes centerstage yet again as Monét delivers a sexy, rhythmic, entrancing bisexual lover’s dream.

“’Alright’ is about liberation and freedom at its core! This video is a visual presentation of that sentiment through freedom of movement and fluidity between masculine and feminine energy,” she explained in a statement.

She added, “It was an honor to work alongside Dave Meyers and Sean Bankhead and this cast on this visual! What a crazy combo!! Plus, EVERY single person who had their hands on this visual was extremely passionate from inception, and we all worked really hard to bring it to life! They showed up with their A-game surpassing what we all imagined. Serious teamwork! We all patiently and meticulously crafted it and are extremely excited to release it into the world! There’s no better month to release this visual than pride month, Black music month and the beginning of summer 24! I can’t wait to see where dance artists and the ballroom culture take it.”

The visual arrives ahead of the 2024 BET Awards, where Monét has earned five nominations for Album of the Year, Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year, Viewer’s Choice Award, and the BET HER award. She’s also received her first Kids Choice Awards nomination for Breakout Artist of the Year after making history at the 2024 Grammys as the first Black woman to win Best Engineered Album.

After much anticipation, the “Alright” video was first teased during her Coachella set back in April. She previewed its opening scene on Monday (June 10) via her YouTube in an episode titled “Jaguar Cinema: The Premiere.”
