The Nottingham duo performed on the opening night of the Romanian festival
In collaboration with Electric Castle
Sleaford Mods played their new The Prodigy remix of ‘Elitist G.O.A.T.’ during the first evening of Electric Castle 2026.
Placed near the end of the performance, the Acid Thunder remix helped launch a chaotic conclusion to their hour long set. It was quickly followed by ‘Jobseeker,’ longtime favourite ‘Tied Up In Nottz’ and ‘Tweet Tweet Tweet’.
Earlier in the show, Sleaford Mods delivered their version of the Pet Shop Boys’ 1986 hit ‘West End Girls.’ The cover has become a regular feature of the duo’s concerts since they first introduced it in 2023.
The post punk act were followed on the Romanian event’s Hangar stage by Kneecap. The group gave a performance worthy of a headline slot, playing tracks from this year’s album ‘FENIAN’ alongside popular songs ‘H.O.O.D.’ and ‘Get Your Brits Out’.
Summarising the opening day of Electric Castle 2026, NME wrote: “Sleaford Mods’ hour-long set was shaped heavily by this year’s The Demise of Planet X, with ‘Megaton’ and ‘No Touch’ making for early highlights. Williamson was self-deprecating about ‘Bad Santa’, telling fans “If you want a pint now is the time” but anyone taking a FIFA-style hydration break around the 20-minute mark would have missed a touching and melancholic song referencing doomscrolling, the Tate Modern and cancelled comedian Dapper Laughs. ”
Sleaford Mods originally released The Prodigy’s remix of ‘Elitist G.O.A.T’ in April. The first version appears on the duo’s latest record, ‘The Demise of Planet X’, and includes extra vocals from Aldous Harding.
“Who could ask for more? A Prodigy Remix for ‘Elitist G.O.A.T’ that turns it into another tune entirely,” Sleaford Mods frontman Jason Williamson said when the remix arrived. “I can’t believe it.”
Electric Castle 2026 runs from July 16 to 20 and features a varied selection of international performers, including The Cure, Twenty One Pilots, Wet Leg, Teddy Swims and Chase & Status.
