Kelsea Ballerini is grieving the death of her beloved “soul dog”, Dibs.

On Thursday, the country star shared the sad news on Instagram, revealing that Dibs passed away the day before. Her post featured a collection of photos and videos capturing moments from his life.

“My sweet Dibs went to doggy heaven yesterday,” her message began. “He spent his last few days in his backyard looking at the sunshine and surrounded and visited by his forever people.

“There are no words to articulate his role in my life,” Ballerini continued, explaining that she “couldn’t have done” the past decade without him by her side.

“I pray and believe we’ll find each other in every life,” she wrote.

“I feel like the luckiest girl in the world that I got to be his dog mom, greatest gift of my life.”

The Love Me Like You Mean It singer also shared a series of touching images from recent years, showing Dibs enjoying the outdoors, from wandering across grassy fields to splashing in waterfalls and rolling in the dirt.

The Grammy nominee additionally marked the loss on Dibs’ own Instagram page, posting a photo of herself wrapped in blankets with her dog beneath the night sky.

“I’m cancer free now, and my last days were so happy,” the post read. “My mom and my aunts and dad and grandma are going to show you a lot of my life on this page because I have so many pictures and videos that we all wanna share. Also, love you and thank you.”

Dibs was first diagnosed with cancer in August 2024, a moment Ballerini previously opened up about with fans.

“He’s not in pain, and luckily it hasn’t spread further,” she shared at the time. “We’re going to start him on the ‘big’ meds to try to make sure he can have as many comfortable and happy days weeks months left as possible.”
