Jimmie Allen has been found responsible for sexually assaulting and secretly recording a woman in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2022.
The country singer, once seen as a fast-rising star, had previously denied the allegations. However, he lost his ability to contest them after repeatedly ignoring deadlines and court orders tied to the case.
According to Billboard, a ruling on August 18 from a Tennessee federal court determined that the Best Shot performer is legally liable by default for assault, battery, invasion of privacy, and causing emotional distress.
The lawsuit had originally been set to head to trial this summer, but Allen’s repeated failure to follow instructions from the court and his attorneys’ ongoing lack of cooperation resulted in an early decision against him.
“The defendants throughout have failed to comply with case management discovery deadlines and even failed to comply with specific orders of this court,” the judge wrote.
“For these reasons, the plaintiff’s motion for sanctions and judgment against defendants Jimmie Allen and Aadyn’s Dad Touring Inc. is granted.”
Aadyn’s Dad Touring, which employed Allen’s bodyguard Charles Hurd, is accused of being involved, as Hurd allegedly helped the singer target the woman at the center of the lawsuit.
Attorneys for the plaintiff can now file a request for monetary compensation.
This case is one of two civil lawsuits accusing Allen of sexual assault, both filed in 2023. The allegations halted his once-promising career, which had included several Number 1 hits on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. In the aftermath, Allen was dropped by his record label, BBR Music Group, along with his management, booking agency, and publicist.
