The freestyle marks Chance's first release of 2024.

Chance The Rapper has delivered his first release of 2024, “I Will Be Your (Black Star Line Freestyle),” which samples Stephanie Mills’ 1981 R&B classic, “Don’t Stop Doin’ What ‘Cha Do.”

The Chicago spitter gave his fans the musical treat on Sunday (Jan. 28), after taking a musical hiatus since 2022.

“Just some bars and a soul sample for your timeline,” he posted on X. Chance also posted the two-minute and 42-second track on his YouTube account.

He raps: “Guide on some death cab for cutie/ Let’s grab a smoothie, sit back and just laugh/ The movie is Soul Plane, the plates is gold framed/ I’m sippin’ a gold drink/ I’m drinking all my frequent flyer miles, it’s Coltrane/ The diamonds on my necklace keep doing the Soul Train.”

Although Chance released one-off singles in 2022 and performed a lot throughout 2023, he has yet to release his anticipated sophomore albumStar Line Gallery. The project would be a follow up to his 2019 debut LP Acid Rap.

Besides living it up in Jamaica, enjoying fatherhood, and advocating against child labor in Democratic Republic of the Congo, the “Are U Live” MC has assisted with other artists’ music.

In 2022, he and Joey Bada$$ dropped their collab, “The Highs and the Lows,” and performed the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Last year, Chance also teamed up with Vic Mensa for the Black Star Line Festival in Accra, Ghana, which included appearances from Erykah Badu, Dave Chappelle, T-Pain, Jeremih, Sarkodie, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys, and M.anifest.
