Fifteen-year-old musician and rapper, Tamas Bulla, demonstrates the power of determination and creativity with the release of his latest single, “TikTok.” The rap song is an example of Tamas Bulla’s range of musical talent and an upbeat track sure to entertain listeners all summer long.
“TikTok” was born from spontaneity rather than a planned hit single. As Tamas describes, “I was home on a Sunday afternoon and on FaceTime with my manager. The whole call, he was bugging me about filming TikToks, like ‘you have to post something.’ So I said I would try to think of something and hopped in the shower to think about ideas. I started humming this melody and saying these lyrics and then I was like ‘woah, this is kind of good.’ So I ran downstairs and called my manager back, saying ‘I’m not going to film a TikTok but I will finish this song.’ And the rest was history—we finished it in over six hours.”
Learning how to make beats is a work in progress for the young artist. For his newest single, however, he relied on a produced beat. He then mixed the song himself. As for the meaning behind the song? Tamas elaborates, “I want listeners to understand how hard it is being an influencer. My manager went through all this in LA with fake people, fake everything basically. I wrote the song for him—to tell his story.”
Based in New Jersey, the young artist began playing music after receiving a guitar from his parents. A few lessons in, he continued learning from home and wanted to expand his skillset by taking vocal lessons at a local Guitar Center. The vocal coach took notice of Tamas’ voice and insisted on private lessons. His consistency and dedication paid off when Tamas was invited to perform in his community. Soon after, he began playing piano as well as the drums.
Finally, in 2020, after devoting years to mastering musical skills, Tamas Bulla released his first single, “Out Of Time.” The music video that accompanied his first single amassed more than 13,000 views on YouTube. Another two years passed before he released his second single, “Shower Thoughts,” and has continued to release singles since then. Tyler Hill, his favorite YouTuber’s cameraman, not only filmed the music video to Tamas’ 2023 single, “Roll With Me,” but is now Tamas’ manager as well.
Tamas Bulla’s music is constantly evolving. In fact, he only recently began dabbling in rap. “I released two songs before my first rap song. It was more like melodic rap. But the person who influenced me to switch it up was Bankrol Hayden. I just started listening to him randomly one day and loved his music, so I made this switch, and it’s worked out pretty well. I then got to meet him in April, which was pretty cool.”
The music video for “TikTok” is already out on all platforms. Tamas Bulla also has a song coming out with Lil Zelle called “Getting Over You,” due for release July 28.
