“I am someone who transcribes my truth through my music,” Ghxst Vic says.

A busy month is in store for the rapper Ghxst Vic as he looks forward to the release of his upcoming EP LDN to Miami in January. Recently in December, Vic has released the single “Baby Bump” from the EP, a message-driven single about responsibility and fatherhood, written as Vic became the father of his firstborn daughter.

“I am someone who transcribes my truth through my music,” Ghxst Vic says. “There’s a lot to reflect upon in life, especially around the past year and my first daughter. I’m grateful for the position I’m in right now and the experience that comes with it. I want to most of all share my experience, but I’m also excited to continue to grow.”

Ghxst Vic’s musical journey begins in his youth, influenced by hip-hop and Afrobeat of the many places he has been. His sound is developed from the places he has lived in, moving from Nigeria to London to New York in his youth. In the U.K., Vic was widely involved in the talent industries, working as an engineer and producer while being a professional soccer player. When an injury retired his soccer career, Vic opened his own business, later taking the dive to become a recording artist.

LDN to Miami will be an EP released around the 19th of January. It is an EP about life experience and homemaking as Ghxst Vic recounts his time in Africa, Europe, and America.

It is also a message-driven EP about hip-hop culture itself. Vic says, “Hip hop culture is not about violence and gangs. It’s about the beauty of things and expressing yourself as an artist. My focus is on passing on that message, to be a force in people’s lives.”

Vic says that single “Baby Bump” is co-written by his partner, as they planned out the life of their newborn. “I’d have thought you were joking if you told me I was going to be a father this year.”

The song seeks to inspire other fathers to better commit to their fatherhood.

He says, “Even though, it wasn’t planned how things happened, I wanted to make a song about how a lot of fathers actually leave their responsibility. I’ve seen this a lot. There’s a lot of men that go and have kids, but they leave these kids fatherless. They don’t step up to their responsibility. They do the due, but don’t accept the responsibility that comes with it.”

“This is what goes behind Baby Bump. People need to be more responsible and take that responsibility seriously. If you’re able to do something that comes with consequences, you need to reflect carefully upon being a father. The song delves into a deeply into our decisions around fatherhood, and it really gets you thinking about the message behind it.”

The rest of the EP LDN to Miami also seeks to inspire. Vic says, “The EP is about me personally, my story. The fact that I went through a lot on my path to becoming an artist and on my path of becoming who I am today.”

"Being in this position means that I am fully able to express myself. But there’s also a lot of teaching too. I look in the face of the lots of people without much opportunity. They have to contemplate whether gang violence is it, or if drugs is it. If all those things are it.”

“I want my music to let them know there are multiple ways though the world. It’s not all about the gang violence. It’s not about the idea that you always have to be this hard person. A heartless, soulless person.”

“A lot of my music is empowering people to understand that they still have opportunities in life. Change can happen from anywhere.”

LDN to Miami will be releasing around the 19th of January, with a finalized date being announced on Ghxst Vic’s social media.

Beginning on the 15th, Ghxst Vic will be releasing music videos leading up to the EP. The music video for “Baby Bump” has a social media challenge, where Ghxst Vic will fly a fan out to shoot the music video with his team. Details about these can be found on his social media.

Lastly, Ghxst Vic is excited to do the work necessary to inspire others. He says, “I’m grateful for opportunities I’ve had. Grateful to be in a position where I’ve experienced a lot of the beautiful things in life and life’s luxuries.”

“So right now, a big thing for me is the act of being there for as many people as I can and touching the emotions of as many people as I can. I’m really looking forward to sharing a lot of strong messages and connecting with a lot of fans. I want to reach a lot of people around the world, and I’m committed as an artist to just helping people in any way I possibly can.
