The Underground-turned-mainstream rapper has been making music for as long as he can remember. Since the founding of his entertainment company, Alpha Male Entertainment, Hammaz has been working his way to global recognition.
Hammaz looks to become the next major artist and to leave a strong influence on future generations through his authentic storytelling. Throughout his life, Hammaz has turned obstacles into opportunities, fueling his determination further. Now, he’s telling his life stories to encourage others.
“Hammaz” stands for “hammers on deck,” which was his street name growing up and stuck. “They say the hood names you, and it does,” adds Hammaz. In addition to life experience, the artist cites Jadakiss and Fabulous among his many inspirations.
Music also runs in his veins. “My family has always been into music, whether DJing, producing, or performing. It’s always around me and in me naturally. The influence was always there,” explains Hammaz. While he’s dabbled in a few instruments—namely, drums and keyboard—Hammaz prefers voicing his experiences.
His recent single, “SHITZ,” is raw and attention grabbing. “When the album was completed and everything was done, we still needed that rachet, attention grabber,” explains the artist. “‘SHITZ’ was just that. It gets everybody in. There’s lots of storytelling and things going on in this album.
Hammaz advises listeners to listen to “SHITZ” for what it is. “In the album, you start getting different pieces of me—old relationships, old situations with best friends, linking up with icons.” But “SHITZ” is not that—it’s purely for the spotlight.
When writing his music, Hammaz starts with the beat first. “I let the beat talk to me as I’m trying to think of the concept. Then I work with my producer to match my energy.” Together, they create every song on the album. At the end of the process, they have a collection of Hammaz’ best work.
Up next for Hammaz is a performance at the end of the month, followed by two more video releases for the album. “I’ll be grinding all summer,” tells Hammaz, who will be on tour while working on another album.
