The '96 & Forever cultural archive looks to mirror what Jay did with The Book of HOV in 2023.
With Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt approaching its 30th anniversary on Thursday (June 25), Roc Nation has unveiled plans for a series of pop-ups, activations and events across New York City to mark the milestone of Hov’s debut album.
The “JAŸ-Z 30” celebration will begin at 11 a.m. ET in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn’s Dumbo area, with pop-up locations offering limited edition items and exclusive merchandise. Roc Nation also announced that “’96 & Forever” will act as a yearlong initiative dedicated to honouring Jay-Z’s catalogue as a broader cultural archive.
Fans can visit the JAŸ-Z 30 website to register for access and view the exact locations of the various activations.
The Brooklyn Public Library has also teamed up with Roc Nation for a special JAŸ-Z 30 library card celebrating the album’s 30th anniversary. The card follows the success of the Jay-Z themed editions released during the 2023 Book of HOV exhibit.
The Marcy Library is also offering a Jay-Z curated reading list, giving fans a look at the books that have influenced the Brooklyn rapper and shaped his journey into becoming a billionaire businessman and cultural figure.
iHeartRadio is joining the anniversary celebrations as well, planning to air Jay-Z’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction speech at midnight ET on June 23. The media company is also teasing a special surprise during its full broadcast of Reasonable Doubt on June 25.
After headlining the Roots Picnic in May, Jay-Z is set to bring Reasonable Doubt to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx for a three night run from July 10 to July 12. The July 10 show will focus on the debut album, while July 11 will highlight the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.
Originally released on June 25, 1996, Reasonable Doubt peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 and remained on the chart for 18 weeks.
