Billy Idol is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 American Music Awards.

CBS and Dick Clark Productions confirmed on Thursday that the legendary rock star, born William Broad, will be honored during this year’s ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 25.

In a statement announcing the recognition, producers praised Idol’s lasting impact on music and rock culture.

“Billy Idol is being recognised for his incomparable career and body of work, unparalleled contributions to music, and continued influence on generations of artists and fans,” the statement read. “For almost 50 years, Idol has been one of the defining faces and voices of rock 'n' roll.”

The 70 year old musician is also scheduled to perform a special medley featuring some of his most iconic songs during the broadcast.

The appearance will mark Billy Idol’s first performance at the AMAs and his first time appearing on the stage since serving as a presenter in 2004.

Past recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award include music legends Diana Ross and Rod Stewart.

This year’s show will also feature performances from several major artists, including Karol G, who is receiving the International Artist Award of Excellence, along with Hootie & the Blowfish, KATSEYE, Keith Urban, Maluma, Riley Green, SOMBR, Teddy Swims, Teyana Taylor, and Twenty One Pilots.

Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with eight total nods.

Close behind are Morgan Wallen, Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, and SOMBR, who each earned seven nominations.

Queen Latifah has officially been announced as the host for the 2026 American Music Awards.
