NBA YoungBoy’s new documentary American YoungBoy hit 583 theaters across the United States earlier this month. The film focuses on the 26 year old artist’s “Make America Slime Again” tour, which reportedly brought in close to $70 million in 2025.

The documentary has been drawing strong reactions from fans so far. Videos from screenings have been circulating online, showing crowds dancing, rapping along, and fully engaging with the experience. However, one showing reportedly escalated beyond control.

According to WRAL, seven juveniles were detained on Saturday, April 25, at a Regal Cinemas location in North Hills, North Carolina. Authorities responded after receiving reports of a large group that appeared to be fighting.

“Approximately 20 people fighting in the Chick Fil A and the movie theater,” radio traffic stated. “I guess there is a violent group that’s out here. They’re not actually fighting. One guy is acting like he has a gun.”

The juveniles were later released to their parents.

The detentions follow other reports tied to the film’s screenings, including one theater shutting down a showing due to excessive noise. Clips that surfaced afterward show an employee attempting to address the crowd, only to be met with backlash from attendees who voiced their frustration.

The situation comes as American YoungBoy continues to perform well at the box office. The documentary debuted at No. 10 this week, earning more than $1.1 million domestically.

The project was produced by NBA YoungBoy alongside Patrick Hughes, Kyle Claiborne, and Antoine Banks. It was directed by Nico Ballesteros, who also helmed the 2025 documentary In Whose Name? about Kanye West. Beyond the live performances, the film also offers a closer look at the rapper’s personal life, including his family and home environment.
