Miley Cyrus Admits Super Bowl Halftime Performance Would Feel Overwhelming

Miley Cyrus has opened up about the idea of performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, admitting she feels the opportunity would come with “too much pressure”.

The singer is currently seen as the bookmakers’ top pick to headline the 2027 event, especially after Bad Bunny delivered what became the most viewed Halftime Show ever with his recent appearance.

Speaking in a recent interview with Variety, Cyrus was asked if she would consider taking on the prestigious performance slot in the future. Her response suggested she is hesitant about the possibility.

“I always think the Super Bowl feels like too much pressure,” she explained.

“I would have to do the mental work of making it not about the Super Bowl, because then you can’t help but go, ‘It’s millions of people, and it’s the most watched thing in the world’.

“But if I could find a way to make it exactly what the Hannahversary [for Hannah Montana] was, taking a journey through the discography and appreciating each song, each era for what it is, I think I could find it in myself.”

As mentioned earlier, The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is scheduled to arrive on Disney+ and Hulu on March 24. You can watch the official trailer below.

During the same interview, Cyrus also revealed that she does not currently have any intention of returning to touring.

“I actually miss and love live shows,” she said. “But me being on the road for six months out of the year and leaving my family and my normalcy and my routine is just not best for me.”

In recent years she has limited her live appearances to selected festivals, television performances and smaller private events, including intimate shows at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Back in 2023, Cyrus announced she would be stepping away from touring and shared her reasons with fans. “It isn’t what’s best for me right NOW,” she wrote in a message.

“For clarity I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever. When I win, WE win. Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart.”

She added: “I’m constantly creating and innovating new ways that I can stay connected to the audience I love without sacrificing my own essentials.”

Later that same year, she also described touring as something that was not “healthy” for her. Earlier this year she also shared that Harrison Ford had convinced her not to promote her latest album ‘Something Beautiful’ by performing in a forest. Instead she created a companion film with the same title, which received a one night screening in UK cinemas.

Cyrus previously performed during the Super Bowl Music Fest in 2022 and also took part in the TikTok Tailgate event ahead of the game the year before.

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl 2026 performance highlighted the legacy and range of Latin music and included guest appearances from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.

The 2025 Halftime Show was led by Kendrick Lamar. Before that, Usher headlined in 2024, Rihanna in 2023, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J Blige and Kendrick Lamar in 2022, and The Weeknd in 2021.

Earlier this year, Miley Cyrus also spoke about the competitive side of awards season, saying that “performance runs so much deeper than a scoreboard”. This came after she released the track ‘Dream As One’ from the Avatar: Fire And Ash soundtrack.

She had also previously attended the 2025 Oscars with the goal of presenting herself as a songwriter for film projects.
