DJ Akademiks has been consistently criticizing Lil Baby over the past few months. It seems like every few days the streamer and hip hop commentator has something critical to say about the Atlanta rapper. At times his comments have crossed the line, but his most recent jab, while less personal, still landed pretty hard.

During a stream where he was reacting to Lil Baby’s "Mrs. Trendsetter" music video, Akademiks paused the clip at a moment showing a woman applying makeup during a livestream. Her setup included a ring light and an iPhone, which reminded him of a specific type of short video content.

These types of clips are commonly known as "get ready with me" or "GRWM" videos. They often feature women getting ready for their day, showing things like skincare routines, breakfast preparation, and other everyday habits.

That moment led Akademiks to joke that Lil Baby seems to perform best when he makes what he called "GRWM" type songs.

"All the songs working for him right now are the songs [like that]... That's where we've sent him. Over to H&M and Zara. That's where it belongs," he jokes.

Even though he has suggested Lil Baby’s popularity has declined, he also gave him some reluctant credit for adapting to this type of sound. "At least he's understanding and realizing the time, man."

The video ends with Akademiks referring to Lil Baby as "Lil Bebe" and suggesting he should leave the "gangster sh*t to Gunna." Considering Lil Baby’s loyalty to Young Thug and the complicated history involving Gunna, the remark carried extra weight.

Akademiks has also made it clear that he supports Gunna, often praising him publicly. While reacting to footage of Lil Baby and Young Thug riding together in a car, he used the moment to argue that they no longer have the same influence as their rival.

"Am I expecting some heat from these two? I'mma be honest with y'all, no. I know some of y'all think I'm just gonna be hating. No, I'm gonna call a spade a spade," Akademiks said responding to collaboration rumors swirling these two MCs. "This is two ice cubes linking up together, man. They might as well be in the freezer together. That's a fact."

He continued, "They better be driving to Gunna's crib. They better put in the GPS, 'Gunna Wunna's crib.' Straight up. [...] This is damn near the ice bucket challenge. Y'all might as well just go to Gunna's crib. Gunna got the sauce, I'm sorry."
