Shakira has reached a new career milestone after performing in front of more than 400,000 fans at Mexico City’s Zócalo during the weekend, setting the record for the largest crowd ever gathered at the historic square.

The free concert transformed the city into a huge celebration, with fans travelling from all over the country to see the singer deliver the historic show.

Large video screens were placed across nearby streets, and extra viewing spots were set up at Alameda Central and the Monument to the Revolution so more people could watch the performance as the massive audience filled the area.

Colombian singer Beéle appeared on stage alongside Shakira to introduce their new collaboration Algo Tú, which is scheduled for release on May 4.

Fans went wild when she performed major hits such as Hips Don’t Lie, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and Don’t Bother, turning the Zócalo into one of the biggest dance floors anywhere in the world.

The record breaking concert also builds excitement for Shakira’s upcoming return to Rio de Janeiro, where she will headline the free Todo Mundo No Rio concert at Copacabana Beach on May 2.

The appearance forms part of her current global tour, which continues into 2026 and features songs from across her entire catalogue.

Her recent success also follows a major recognition from Billboard, which confirmed that her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is now the highest grossing tour by a Hispanic artist ever. The tour earned $421.6 million from 82 stadium performances across the United States and Latin America, attracting more than 3.3 million fans.

Adding to the list of achievements, Shakira has also been announced as a nominee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2026, further strengthening her reputation as one of the most influential artists of her era.
