Marilyn Manson faces revived lawsuit from former assistant

A former assistant who once worked for Marilyn Manson has succeeded in bringing her sexual assault lawsuit against the rocker back before the courts.

Ashley Walters first filed her civil case against Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, in 2021. The lawsuit was initially thrown out, later reinstated on appeal, and then dismissed again in December 2025 after being ruled out of time.

That decision changed on Monday when Judge Steve Cochran agreed to reopen the case following the introduction of a new California law, according to Billboard.

Assembly Bill 250, which took effect on January 1, creates a two year window allowing survivors of sexual abuse to pursue legal action even if the claims were previously blocked by time limits.

Judge Cochran determined that the new legislation allows Walters to move forward despite the original two year statute of limitations. Her lawsuit alleges that Manson subjected her to "sexual exploitation, manipulation and psychological abuse" between 2010 and 2011.

"The motion for reconsideration filed by Ashley Walters on 7 January 2026, is granted," the court order states.

"Statute revives the claim. The court orders the dismissal ordered on 16 December as to the entire action set aside and vacated."

Following the ruling, Walters’ legal team released a statement on Monday saying they were "thrilled" by the outcome.

"Mr Warner has tried time and again to avoid accountability for his abuse against Ms Walters," the statement said.

"We look forward to continuing to fiercely advocate for Ms Walters until Mr Warner finally answers for his abuse."

Walters is among a number of women who have come forward with allegations of sexual abuse against Manson in recent years, beginning with claims made by his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood.

The case is scheduled to return to court for a further hearing in March.
