Dave and Tems near a major Number 1 milestone with “Raindance”

The UK charts could be in for a shake up at the very top this week. New data from the Official Chart First Look suggests that Dave and Tems are on course to claim their first ever Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with their joint track “Raindance.”

The long climb to the top

The rise of “Raindance” is a clear example of patience paying off. The song first landed back in October and has steadily held its place inside the UK Top 40 ever since. While many releases enjoy brief flashes of success before fading, Dave and Tems’ collaboration has quietly gained strength over time, continuing to pick up steam throughout the winter.

After spending weeks hovering just below the summit and touching nearly every position in the Top 5, the pair now appear ready to overtake their rivals. If they can maintain their lead through to Friday’s final count, it would mark a major moment for both artists, delivering a long awaited chart topping moment for a song that has already cemented itself in popular culture.

The competition

Blocking their path is Djo, whose breakout hit “End of Beginning” has dominated the chart for the past two weeks. Currently sitting just behind at Number 2, the track is still very much in contention as it looks to secure a third consecutive week at the top. Elsewhere, Bruno Mars continues to make his presence felt, with his recent release “I Just Might” pushing toward the Top 5, while his collaboration with Lady Gaga, “Die With A Smile,” remains a strong performer.

Chart risers and new entries

The midweek update also points to a notable comeback for Zara Larsson. Her hit “Lush Life” is holding firm at Number 7, while her newer material and recent collaborations with PinkPantheress are climbing quickly up the chart.

Meanwhile, attention is also turning toward A$AP Rocky. Following the release of his long awaited album Don’t Be Dumb, his first full length project in eight years, the Harlem rapper is tracking toward three entries in the Top 40 at once, with “HELICOPTER” leading the charge.

Even with plenty of movement elsewhere on the chart, the spotlight remains firmly on Dave and Tems. Whether “Raindance” can finally rise to Number 1 will be confirmed when the full Official Singles Chart is unveiled this Friday.
