Dolly Parton has joined forces with several major names in music for a brand new charity release.

The country legend returned to Instagram on Monday to reveal she has collaborated with Miley Cyrus, Lainey Wilson, Queen Latifah and Reba McEntire on a fresh recording of her 1977 song Light of a Clear Blue Morning.

The updated version is currently available to pre save on streaming platforms and is scheduled for release on January 16, just days before Dolly marks her 80th birthday.

In her post, the Jolene singer explained that all proceeds from the single and its accompanying video will support paediatric cancer research at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.

Responding in the comments, Lainey Wilson shared her excitement, writing, “So excited for y’all to hear this.”

Light of a Clear Blue Morning originally appeared on Dolly’s 18th studio album New Harvest…First Gathering, and she has since recorded the song three additional times for different projects.

Writing on her official website, the Tennessee native reflected on the song’s origins, explaining it was inspired by one of her final business meetings with longtime collaborator Porter Wagoner.

“It was my song of deliverance. It was my song of freedom, and I knew that God was in it. I knew that I was free. And when the Lord has set you free ‘Ye are free indeed,’” she wrote.

Last week, Dolly also confirmed that she would not be attending her upcoming 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday evening.

“Well, hey there Grand Ole Opry family. I just wanted to say how much it means to me that you’re all coming together again this year to celebrate my big ol’ birthday with some of my songs,” she said in a short video message. “Some of my favourite memories happened right here onstage at the Grand Ole Opry, and I wish I could be there in person, but I’ll be sending you all my love for sure. So you have the best night ever.”

Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill and Rhonda Vincent are all confirmed to perform at the celebration.

The announcement follows news from around four months ago, when Dolly shared that she would be delaying a run of Las Vegas shows after revealing she had been “dealing with some health challenges.”
