The former Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman has presented The Huey Show since October 2008 and will host his final episode on December 27. No explanation was given for the decision, with BBC 6 Music sharing the following message on Instagram.

“Huey Morgan has decided to leave 6 Music and his last show will be on Saturday 27th December. We would like to thank Huey for being part of the 6 Music family for 17 years, and for bringing us all such a brilliant soundtrack to our Saturday mornings.”
The post added: “We will miss him and wish him the very best for the future.”

NME has contacted Huey Morgan’s representatives for comment. At the time of writing, he has not addressed his departure publicly.

Nick Bright has been part of BBC 1Xtra since 2010 and has become a familiar voice through his weekend breakfast and Saturday mid morning shows. His final broadcast will air from 10am to 1pm on Saturday January 3.

“After 15 years with the network, Nick Bright has chosen to leave the station, with his final show broadcasting on Saturday 3 January,” read a statement shared on the 1Xtra Instagram account.

“We would like to thank Nick for 15 fantastic years at 1Xtra, to which he has brought great energy and enthusiasm. He will always be a part of the 1Xtra family and we wish him the very best for the future.”

In an Instagram story, Bright wrote: “So much to say that I can’t really put it into words right now. To anyone that has been a part of this journey, thank you.”

New York born musician Morgan first rose to prominence as the frontman of Fun Lovin’ Criminals, who enjoyed major success in the UK with three top ten albums and eight top forty singles.
He left the band in late 2021, with the remaining members wishing him “all the best with his endeavours” and confirming they would continue under the Fun Lovin’ Criminals name.

In 2023, however, Morgan publicly criticised the current lineup on social media, calling them “frauds and cowards” and describing the group as a “tribute act”.

During his time on radio, Morgan also attracted controversy in 2012 when he criticised fellow BBC 6 Music DJ Lauren Laverne, referring to himself as “the people’s champ” and claiming Laverne “just shows up and plays on Twitter”. He later issued an apology for the remarks.

Earlier this year, Morgan released his autobiography, The Fun Lovin’ Criminal, which traces the band’s rise, his struggles with mental health and stories from his life in 1990s New York. The book was met with widespread praise, with reviewers highlighting his honesty and distinctive voice.
