A lawyer for Lil Nas X has confirmed that the Grammy-winning artist is “in treatment.”
The update follows his arrest last month on charges of battery against a police officer.
Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, was accused of attacking police officers and resisting arrest while walking naked in Los Angeles on August 21.
Attorneys for the Old Town Road hitmaker appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday and later spoke with Rolling Stone magazine outside.
“Obviously, you heard the word treatment,” his lawyer said.
“We’re doing what is best for Montero from both a personal and professional perspective, but above all for his well-being.
“He has the support of a wonderful family and a strong team who care deeply about him. We’re simply addressing those issues. It really is as straightforward as that. He’s lived a great life and will continue to live a great life. This is just a hurdle he’s going to get past.”
Hill has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges, with his next court date scheduled for November 18.
He later commented on the arrest through his social media accounts, writing: “St. That was fking terrifying. That was terrifying! That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
