As Taylor Swift fans weigh just how much money they are willing to part with for every new vinyl variant of her upcoming album The Life of Showgirl, her fiancé, Travis Kelce, has already been spinning it nonstop.
“I’m gonna go ahead and just keep poking the bear to all the Swifties,” he joked on the first New Heights episode since Swift’s major announcement. “I keep listening to this album.”
Kelce shared that he has been “dancing throughout the house” to the record, which arrives Oct. 3. “I know she mentioned that it’s gonna be a lot more pop beats, but it’s just still so poetic in her melodies and her references and stuff,” he said. “It’s just so much fun to listen to, man.”
Right now, his favorite track is “Opalite.” “At least right now, every time it comes on, I always catch myself [dancing],” he admitted. Some fans have already chosen the song as their personal favorite, even without hearing it, relying solely on their impressions since no singles have been released yet. The whole album is still weeks away, but in the meantime, listeners are busy analyzing the hints Swift has scattered.
“She walked away, like, flying around,” Kelce said about Swift’s guest spot on the podcast, where she revealed the record. “She was having so much fun getting to tell everyone about the album and obviously dropping a few easter eggs and seeing if anyone caught on.” Fans were already dissecting the engagement announcement that Swift and Kelce posted Tuesday — even though Swift clarified on the show that she would never plant clues about her personal life — so it’s likely they picked up on the easter eggs she intentionally dropped, along with a few she didn’t realize she left.
“I know Tay walked away absolutely ecstatic and excited and happy that she came on here and had her first podcast experience with me and you, man,” Kelce told his brother and co-host Jason Kelce. At the beginning of the episode, Swift herself said, “I owe a lot to this podcast. This podcast got me a boyfriend ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago.”
“This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant. It just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life,” Swift explained. “And so that effervescence has come through on this record. And like, as you said, bangers.”
