Joey Bada$$ taps into the same energy he brought on Survival Tactics for his newest single, “Still.” Serving as the final preview of his upcoming album Lonely at the Top, which arrives this Friday, August 29, the track recalls the spirit of that 1999 classic, though this time with a more reflective and restrained approach.
With production from his longtime collaborator Statik Selektah, the track creates a backdrop that encourages self-examination while still carrying the kind of drive that makes it perfect for a workout playlist. The verses are filled with motivation and determination throughout.
“I got that Stevie vision / Yeah, and this is a song in the key of my life / I put my soul in these mics, ain't gotta think twice.”
The song also features contributions from Rapsody and Ab-Soul, who are both part of Joey Bada$$’s tour lineup. While Rapsody doesn’t deliver a whole verse, her introspective and understated presence still adds weight and texture to the record.
Ab-Soul, however, steps in with a set of sharp, memorable bars. “The fifth horseman appointed to redirect the apocalypse / In the Impala flippin' the hydraulic switch / Steerin' the wheel of fortune, still I'm ten steps ahead of these n****s / Something surely afoot.”
Although listeners might gravitate more toward accessible cuts like “ABK” and “Dark Aura,” there is a strong case for “Still” to stand out as the most impactful deep cut on the album.

Quotable Lyrics:
Family connected to me indefinitely
Enemies close, I'm a devious host
Smarter martyr disguised as a remarkable author
Take a glass of absinth in my absence
It may just make your heart grow fonder or at least grow stronger
I gotta go farther for the sake of my daughters
