Lil Wayne called off his Toronto show just an hour before it was set to start on Monday night.
The 42-year-old rapper was scheduled to perform at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Canada, but fans inside the venue learned only an hour before showtime that it would not go ahead. A message displayed on the big screen announced that the concert was postponed because of an “unforeseen illness.”
The statement appeared at 8 p.m., exactly one hour before Wayne was due to step on stage.
It read, “Due to unforeseen illness, Wayne’s Toronto show will be postponed. As his fans know, he loves putting on nothing short of the best performances for those who come out, and he was so excited for this one.”
The message continued, “Please stay tuned for the new date coming soon. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new date once announced.”
The A Milli hitmaker was slated to perform in Toronto as part of his Tha Carter VI Tour, which kicked off in June and is set to run until October.
He has not yet spoken publicly about the cancellation or shared details about his illness.
The Tha Carter VI Tour will visit more than 30 cities across North America, including New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Austin, Orlando, and Memphis. It supports his 14th studio album, Tha Carter VI, released on June 6, which features collaborations with Big Sean, Jelly Roll, Bono, Andrea Bocelli, and his 15-year-old son, Kameron Carter.
