Florida-based artist, Satega, is setting the mood with his feel-good summer hit, “Blame it on me.” The fun, catchy song features a strong hip-hop lead with a touch of R&B.
Born in Chicago and raised in Miami, Satega was drawn to art, both musical and visual, from grade school. “I’ve been immersed in hip hop and R&B culture since I was young. Something sparked in me to want to start doing music, and I liked the way artists told me their story. I felt like I had a story to tell.” So, he picked up a pen and started writing. This passion grew with passing years until Satega began adding production to his writing. “I started putting songs together and cultivating my skills and talent. I basically built it up from there.”
Working with a producer out of Miami, Satega developed his original sound through exploration. “I’m at the point in my career and in life that I don’t pull information from other artists. I pull from myself. I inspire myself,” explains the artist. “I was inspired by artists in the beginning—how they pulled their story together with words and made it rhyme. But now I pull from the world, other experiences, and interactions with people.”
Satega creates music made to motivate listeners. Fueled by a passion for connection, Satega writes stories into his music that listeners find both relatable and entertaining. His new single, “Blame it on me,” is a playful record laced with good vibes and intended for all audiences. “It’s a fun, sexy record,” Satega shares of his single. “You can play it anytime. It’s a good vibe at a party, on a boat—pretty much anytime. It’s fun and easy to sing along to.”
The single was born from a flirty interaction that inspired romance and song. “It came about from me interacting with a girl and being playful. It’s basically her telling me something’s my fault, playing around. So, I say, ‘it’s my fault, blame it on me,’ joking around.”
It didn’t take long for Satega to transfer the idea into a record. “I hit the studio and put the lyrics together. Then we added the vibe, sauce, swag. I write my music, so I added all of the lyrics, melodies, and harmonies. Then I went through a batch of beats, looking for which beat I can connect with. I connected most with this beat, then a few hours later I had it recorded. It was about 3-4 hours from start to finish of laying the vocals down. Then we sent it out to a big studio to get it mixed and mastered.”
Following the release of “Blame it on me,” Satega looks forward to sharing more music with his listeners. He reminds fans to subscribe to his YouTube channel to stay tuned to his latest releases.
