Altur Santos, the artist and composer also known as Robert Arturo Mejia Santos, celebrates the release of his new single, “Vice, Versa,” a classic blend of reggae, hip-hop, and dancehall. This track, which hit music streaming platforms in April, is not just a club banger but also a nostalgic journey that will resonate with reggaeton fans.

“And that’s the cool thing about reggaeton. I can go with any type of music,” shares Santos, “I bring in my saxophone, a little bachata, and merengue, but my main base is reggaeton. It’s my vocals that add that color and vibe of reggaeton.”

“Vice Versa” is more than a party anthem with its infectious "dem bow" beat. It’s a narrative, an observation of an imbalanced relationship. The song takes us on a journey of two individuals in a romantic entanglement from the perspective of a man who believes he’s outsmarted his lover, only to discover her brilliance in the end.

“She makes him feel like he’s ahead of the game, but it’s really reverse psychology,” explains Santos.

"Vice Versa" is just a taste of what Santos has in store. The single was developed in partnership with Santos' long-time producer, who also oversaw the production of his first industry-recognized track, 'La Combe,' in 2020. Reflecting on his journey, Santos recalls the track that started it all, 'La Combe,' which was a turning point in his career.

"That was the track that started it. I was thrilled when it came out,” said Santos. “I’ve seen so much progress since then—you have to evolve as an artist."

Heavily influenced by his mother, Ana Gil, a renowned trumpet player, Santos hails from a musically gifted family—one brother is a composer based in the Dominican Republic, while another travels the world as a musician, performing with big bands. The eldest of the four, Santos began his musical journey on saxophone at the young age of 10. By 14, he had his first show; by 16, he was in the studio self-recording.

“I kept learning on the saxophone. I wasn’t a performer-singer yet, but I was a professional musician by that point,” shared Santos, “I was producing music for over 50 people in my community.”

Over time, Santos' growing popularity led to him producing music and providing vocal coaching. Eventually, artists began seeking him out not only for lessons but also to lend his vocals to their tracks. This organic evolution marked Santos's transition into the performer-singer role. When asked what message he wants to share with the fans, Santos has one message: “I’m coming, baby!”

As you enjoy “Vice, Versa” on all music streaming platforms, get ready for more releases and electrifying performances from Altur Santos.
