British singer-songwriter, Kaleigh Walker of Essex, England, takes listeners from reality to the unknown with her new single, “Psychedelic.” A glimpse of her new sound, the single explores escapism and the journey from physical self to higher self.

Unique, weird, and utterly pop, “Psychedelic” is an experience in itself. The inspiration for “Psychedelic” came to Kaleigh during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I was writing it during the pandemic,” she elaborates. “It was through lots of meditation and exploring different types of music. I wanted to create that type of lucid state and out of realms of the unknown to interpretate a song that makes you feel like going on a trip through the sound of music. That vibe was a combination of mixing with meditation and music. I was able to write and discover myself as an artist through the process.”

“My writing process is me, my mind, and my voice. I don’t play an instrument. When I want to create my sound, I get my producer to get inside my head. He then plays along with live guitar and keys. But everything is in my mind,” shares the artist of her creative process.

When the song was finalized, Kaleigh Walker took it to her number one fan and critic: her mother. “My mum is my biggest fan and biggest critic. She was like, ‘okay, this is different, almost 80s.’ That was when I did my music video.”

The music video Kaleigh refers to is none other than the one directed by Lee Lennox and Wayne Lennox and featuring Belgian actress Eline Powell of the tv series, Siren. “I was introduced to the Lennox brothers through a family friend. And Eline—it was just by luck that she said yes! The whole process leading up to it—the creative side—and doing the video itself was incredible. It was such a great experience.”

“Psychedelic,” was released on August 25 to great reviews. “It’s gone really well,” shares the singer. “In the first week, it was #1 on the Emerging 300 charts. It hasn’t dropped below #7 since. The music video on YouTube is also doing really well. I was nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. Yet I feel really proud of how it’s gone and how it’s been picking up momentum.”

Previous to her new release, Kaleigh Walker published music online, which has since been removed. “This is a whole new start for me with a new sound as an artist,” she adds. From taking part in musical theatre in high school to becoming a pop artist, Kaleigh Walker has come a long way.

After graduating high school, Kaleigh continued her love of performance on stage, singing lead for a cover band. While the group disbanded after a year, Kaleigh realized during that time that she could write songs on her own. “I always knew music was something I wanted to do,” tells Kaleigh. “In the last five years, I discovered writing and what it means to be an artist—a solo artist.”

“The proudest thing of my journey so far is finding my sound and coming out of my comfort zone and going into the unknown and putting my soul and music out there for the world to hear. It’s a big step. I’m on my own doing everything independently. Knowing I’ve got good feedback has been the boost I need right now—it enabled me to find that inner strength to carry on with more music.”

Through discovering herself and her unique sound, Kaleigh found an important message to share with listeners. “Live life and take each day as it comes,” she shares. “Just be free.

Up next for the artist is remix for “Psychedelic” and another song to be released for New Year’s Day at the end of the year. She’s also working on an album. As far as live performances go, Kaleigh Walker is looking to get on the road soon and (hopefully) make her way to the U.S. for shows in the near future.
