With more than four million streams to date across social media channels, A.D.A.M. Music Project is gaining recognition for its creative approach to rock music. Out May 5, 2023, the group’s latest project, a full-length album with 20 songs named Apex Risen, pays homage to the war game, Apex Legends, through an epic demonstration of rock prowess.

A.D.A.M. stands for “Artists Developing Astonishing Music,” and the music doesn’t fall short of its name. Every song is written about a video game character, from Princess Peach to Jill Valentine. “Our music adds a rock base to a video game character’s story. That’s what it’s about,” shares Adam DeGraide, the group’s founder.

Creative founder Adam DeGraide plays on and writes every song created by the group. “It’s driven by me but not fully created by me,” shares DeGraide, who sings praise of his fellow collaborators. “What’s most important is that we make quality rock music. If you love rock and roll, you will love what we’ve come up with.”

DeGraide’s resume includes owning an independent label, publishing music, and running several software companies, but this project is more than a job—it’s a passion. “The reason why I started the project is because I don’t have a message. I don’t need to change the world or push my opinions. I have no angst in life at all—but I love hard rock. The music we’re creating has a rebellious spirit to it. Writing about characters gives us a lot of freedom. We can be true to the character while offering a unique perspective.”

“If you like rock, you’ll like it. If you like video games—and music about characters—then you’ll find a song you like. If you like video game characters AND rock music—you’ll be glad this exists in the world,” adds DeGraide.

A.D.A.M. MUSIC PROJECT features various singers from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Ultimately, the music begins with the founder and a solid group of writers. “All the songs start with me. The feel, the mood of the song. I lay down the guitar, bass, temp drums, whatever feels right,” elaborates DeGraide. “Then the writing team takes over. That’s co-producer Dameon Aranda; engineer, James Connor; Deux out of Oklahoma City; and Gabe Aranda. We then find the right artist for additional instruments and a vocalist that can represent the character well and match the heart of what the music is trying to represent. We then polish the songs off with top-tier production.”

The music of A.D.A.M. MUSIC PROJECT is a combination of modern and retro. “We don’t want it sound like a particular era—if it works for the character, we go for it in that genre. The lyrical content can be dark with a catchy melody if it suits the character. Or we can have fun with it, like a song about Donkey Kong in the jungle,” explains Adam Degraide.

In October, listeners can look forward to the release of “Smash It Up,” a 12-track album featuring the musical stories of fan-favorite video game characters including Bowser, Princess Peach, Mr. & Mrs. Pacman, Yoshi, and more. “Imagine playing Super Smash Bros. That’s the approach we took,” explains DeGraide. It’s an album you won’t want to miss.
