Benjamin Hey! collaborates with John Beyer to bring diverse messages through quality, heartfelt singles

It wasn’t by luck or coincidence the music industry discovered Benjamin Hey!

NEW YORK – It wasn’t by luck or coincidence the music industry discovered Benjamin Hey! That trademark exclamation point was a work of action – done with intentionality and purpose –just like his music career move to team up with musician John Beyer.

This dynamic duo has proudly released three excellent singles this year, each unfolding a unique moment in history when the world of music returns to quality craftsmanship. Benjamin Hey! –aka “The Captain” – is solid in his commitment to living his dream and hasn’t missed a beat since his pledge April 15, 2017 to write a song a day.

“It’s a muscle,” he said. “I can’t imagine waking up and not writing a song. I am committed. I want this. I take a lot of action – scattering seeds – cause you don’t know what’s coming next.” It was this ambitious drive that connected Benjamin Hey! to John Beyer through a mutual friend. All Beyer had said was, “I need a songwriter,” and days later, he met the fellow New Yorker who shared the same passion for heartfelt, meaningful music. Three years later, they’re stronger than ever, emerging from the pandemic darkness with epic lyrics and instrumental brilliance. R&B and Hip-Hop listeners applauded “RA-TA-TAT-TAT” in the spring, and Beyer’s “Powerless” is a power ballad that is as thoughtful as it is rich in sound. Produced by Young Cutta (NBA Youngboy, Meek Mill) Benjamin Hey! said “No Samples” was perfectly timed for the fall this year, and shines a bright message for people in dark spaces this holiday season.

“I had the Delta variant of COVID, so I was isolated and found myself wishing that I had someone to be with me, but I realized that I didn’t want just anyone – I want it to be someone special,” he said. “Love is something special and amazing, and ‘No Samples,’ tells people to not settle for anything less than a full meal – no crumbs. Everybody is worthy of love in life, so why settle for low quality? Some have to wait longer, but it’ll be worth it. You’ll have time to give yourself some self-love and not be dependent on anyone else. This time of year is what I call ‘the trifecta season’ cause there’s Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s – it’s easy to feel extremely lonely here. So I couldn’t be happier with when this song was released. People need to see that being single can look and feel good.”

Keen collaboration resulted in “RA-TA-TAT-TAT,” because Benjamin Hey! said it wasn’t easy to revisit some unpleasant memories of his childhood in Brooklyn. This powerful song – meticulously crafted with the sound of shells hitting pavement – hits on the topic of inner-city gun violence.

“At first, Ben said it was too painful – too close to home – but what Ben brought to the song was a message of hope,” Beyer said.

“Every week, there’s a new shooting and we’ve seen that bullets don’t discriminate,” Benjamin Hey! said. “I would love for it not to be an issue, but it is… and people need to hear this song. We need to hear that this is not the way. We need to do something about this. It’s so important for the time we’re in right now.”

This song was performed at the Spotify Headquarters and has received more than 100,000 streams. These two artists know that this kind of opportunity doesn’t happen by mere coincidence – they know they have a piece of gold with this collaboration – and it’s just Beginning.

“I’m so grateful to team up with John – He’s at the top of his game,” Benjamin Hey! said. “He cares about quality, he makes sure that the message is high quality and gets through. It’s incredible to work with high-level artists, some big names – fresh names – in the industry. Some really cool things have happened so far in our career and we want to take this to the highest level. We want to reach people with our music. And we’re not giving up.”

Currently, Benjamin Hey! and Beyer are working on a project and seeking a collaborative female artist for the release. “Money Girl” is a track for the hearts of women listeners with an empowering lyric and motivational message regarding finances. Other exciting tracks are in the works, and fans can expect new releases every quarter. Though each track is more unique than the last, always anticipate boldness, vibrancy, and positivity from this team that is Billboard bound!
