Hailing from the Bahamas, VK Da General is a Hip Hop artist poised to leave his mark. Like all kids growing up in the Caribbean, VK was exposed to a plethora of diverse music genres but the one that really appealed to him most was Hip Hop. Artists like The Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, Ice Cube, and 2Pac helped satisfy his appetite for the genre early on and in his late teens he began crafting his own music to the backdrop of his own experiences.

VK has grown to be a pillar in the Caribbean Hip Hop community from his humble beginnings in Nassau championing the Caribbean Hip Hop movement. “I feel like a lot of Carribean Hip Hop artists are slept on, I want to change that” he says. With the release of his latest single “Top Of The World”, it's clear where VK Da General has put his focus.

“Top Of The World'' is motivational music on steroids.The beat commands positive energy from the jump while VK supplements with wordplay that celebrates the feeling of being impervious to the pitfalls and obstacles he’s encountered on his way to success. “This song is for the underdogs. I want them to dream big and aim for the sky. Don’t let nobody put their limitations on you” VK says. The video further accentuates the vision he has for the song and himself as he is shown riding through New York City in a Rolls Royce basking in the luxuries success has afforded, even pulling up to show love to a group of admiring kids hanging out in their neighborhood. 

The song’s popularity is steadily growing, helping VK land on the Tempo Network as a host for the documentary “Hip Hop Origins” which educates viewers about the Caribbean influence on Hip Hop’s beginnings.

As opportunities attributed to the success of “Top Of The World” continue to present themselves, VK Da General understands that his next offering must hit even harder and reach even further. He’s currently working on a double album that will show his versatility as an artist and seeking strategic partnerships with a few major labels to get the proper backing to take his brand global.
