Brandy has shared that acting was never something she imagined for herself when she first started her career.

The Boy Is Mine singer looked back on her diverse journey through music, movies, television and Broadway during a recent conversation with Variety.

During the interview, Brandy said she originally only pictured herself pursuing music.

"It's beautiful because a lot of my life, I didn't see for myself. Like I never saw an actress or I never saw mixing music with different opportunities," she said. "All I saw was me wanting my voice to do a little bit of what Whitney (Houston)'s voice could do. And that was my dream."

The artist also pointed out that she experienced major achievements while still very young.

"When I first started, it just seemed like everything was possible," the 47 year old shared. "And I was able to accomplish a lot at a very young age and just dream really big. I'm still dreaming big. It hasn't stopped."

Brandy’s first step into acting came in 1993 when she appeared on the ABC sitcom Thea, which was later followed by her own television series, Moesha, in 1996. The show lasted for six seasons and helped cement her place as a TV personality.

In 1997, she appeared in the television movie Cinderella and later made her film debut in 1998 with I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Looking back on her long list of projects, Brandy admitted that managing both her music and acting work was not always easy.

"The juggling was a bit difficult because my mom, who was my manager at the time, we were both new to it," she told the publication. "We were going with the flow and just trying to be great at both career paths."

The performer added, "But for me, never even seeing that that was a possibility for me, just doing anything I could to just reach more people with my music, but then to discover acting is also a passion, that was an amazing discovery."
