This upcoming project will be the band’s sixth studio album and is scheduled for release on May 8 through Captured Tracks. The record also officially brings touring members Reza Matin on drums and Danny Ayala on bass into the group, along with Eva Chambers from Tchotchke.

Today on Wednesday March 11, the band released the first preview of the album with the track I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You.

The song carries the band’s signature melodic pop sound and heartfelt songwriting, while also experimenting with unexpected song arrangements. The track shifts the bridge into an unusual position, shortens the chorus, and features detailed vocal harmonies between Brian D’Addario and Eva Chambers.

“Every time we try to write something that’s completely straightforward, we can’t help adding an element which comes out of left field,” Brian said of the single. “We always want to write a song we’ve never heard before.”

The new release follows their 2023 album Everything Harmony and their 2024 record A Dream Is All We Know. According to the band, the album reflects new musical ideas they developed while touring over the past two years.

The album is expected to explore themes of uncertainty and unease while still keeping the melodic pop elements that first helped establish their reputation.

“I do think that now is a time of insanity,” Brian said. “You really have to hold onto your own mind if you don’t wanna lose it.” Visit here to pre order the album.

Last year, Brian D’Addario released a romantic new track titled Till The Morning, which served as the first preview of his solo debut album with the same title.

Prior to that, The Lemon Twigs received a four star review from NME for their 2024 album A Dream Is All We Know.

“‘A Dream Is All We Know’, the siblings’ mostly self-produced fifth studio album, sees them revel in Beach Boys harmonies and off-kilter melodies (think the Beatles when they were starting to get weird). Somehow, they manage to act as if all this has never been done before – and herein lies much of their appeal,” it read.

“At 25 and 27 respectively, Michael and Brian continue to harness an endearing naivety that carries you past any accusations of unoriginality. ‘The album’s aiming for something timeless,’ Michael recently told Mojo, and it’s impressive how often this record lives up to that ambition.”
