Foo Fighters have revealed their upcoming album ‘Your Favorite Toy’ and released its bold and defiant title track. You can listen to it below.

The announcement follows months of hints from Dave Grohl and the band about what would come after 2023’s ‘But Here We Are’, first confirming that a new record was complete and then sharing short previews with fans online.

Earlier this month, the group refreshed their official website, transforming it into an interactive experience packed with clips of new songs. Now, today Thursday February 19, they have officially confirmed that the new album is called ‘Your Favorite Toy’.

The record is scheduled for release on April 24 through Roswell Records and Columbia Records, and it stands as the 12th studio album from the American rock heavyweights.

Alongside the announcement, the band have offered another glimpse of the project by sharing the title track. According to the group, the song captures the overall spirit of the album and signals a fresh creative phase.

“‘Your Favorite Toy’ really was the key that unlocked the tone and energetic direction of the new album,” Grohl said. “We stumbled upon it after experimenting with different sounds and dynamics for over a year, and the day it took shape I knew that we had to follow its lead. It was the fuse to the powder keg of songs we wound up recording for this record. It feels new.”

Take a listen above to the track, which is driven by punchy guitar lines, sweeping keyboard hooks and a chant ready chorus. “Get back/ Hear that, boy?/ Someone threw away your favorite toy for good/ For good,” Grohl sings.

The album was recorded at home, produced by Foo Fighters alongside Oliver Roman, engineered by Oliver Roman and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent.

It is also the first album to feature Ilan Rubin on drums after he stepped into the role previously held by Josh Freese. The two musicians effectively traded places, with Rubin leaving Nine Inch Nails to join Foo Fighters and Freese exiting the Dave Grohl fronted band to return to NIN.

Foo Fighters’ ‘Your Favorite Toy’ tracklist is:

‘Of All People’
‘Window’
‘Your Favorite Toy’
‘If You Only Knew’
‘Spit Shine’
‘Unconditional’
‘Child Actor’
‘Amen, Caveman’

The album follows ‘But Here We Are’, which served as an emotional tribute to longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died in March 2022 at the age of 50.

Since that release, the band have put out ‘Today’s Song’ to mark their 30th anniversary and later shared ‘Asking For A Friend’.

They also recently issued a live collection documenting their intimate club run titled ‘Are Playing Where??? Vol. I’, and performed their first show of the year without Pat Smear.

This summer, they will tour the UK and Europe, with festival appearances at Mad Cool, Pinkpop and others, alongside two major headline shows at Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium. Find any remaining tickets here.

Earlier this week, the group announced the Australia and New Zealand dates for their ‘Take Cover’ tour set for 2026 and 2027.

NME awarded the new title track four stars and described it as “unstoppable and laser-focussed”.

“Foos have certainly turned up the heat, shifting to a more thrilling gear when they could cruise down the slow lane to keep things rolling across the stadium and festival circuit this summer,” wrote NME’s Andrew Trendell. “Despite having made headlines in recent years for drummer squabbles and infidelity, their comeback single is snarlingly unapologetic.”
