Harry Styles releases surprise “Forever, Forever” video without warning

The clip captures his performance of the track during the closing night of Love On Tour in 2023.

Just before the new year, Harry Styles shared his first new piece of music related content in over two years. On Saturday December 27, the pop star and former One Direction member surprised fans with an official video for “Forever, Forever,” an instrumental track he first introduced live on piano in Reggio Emilia, Italy, on July 22, 2023, which marked the final date of his Love On Tour.

The video leans heavily into nostalgia, celebrating both the tour and the sense of community Styles has fostered over the years. It opens with roughly two and a half minutes of carefully shot footage showing fans lined up outside RCF Arena, moments before attending the final show of a two year tour that grossed $617 million and sold more than five million tickets worldwide.

The scenes capture fans braiding each other’s hair, celebrating the thrill of securing tickets, dancing together in sync, and openly admitting they feel “some sadness because it is the last show… then he will disappear.”

They also debate what Styles might wear onstage, weighing options like dungarees or a jacket and suit for something “a little bit elegant.” One fan jokingly adds, “Better shirtless, sorry.”

Soon after, the crowd is inside, fully immersed in the night and unaware of what is about to happen as the piano Styles will use to perform “Forever, Forever” is rolled onto the stage. He tells the audience that he wrote the song specifically for them, presenting it as a piece they have never heard before, an unexpected encore created just for that moment.

The video closes with a simple message appearing on screen: “WE BELONG TOGETHER.”

Although it does not appear within the “Forever, Forever” video itself, Styles also delivered an emotional speech to fans that night in Italy.

“I don’t get to do this if you guys don’t come,” he said. “I know that more than anyone else. You guys being here tonight, I know you wanted to make it special for me. You make it special for me every single night.”

“The atmosphere that you have created, the family that you have created, this safe space that you have created. I want to thank you for everything,” Styles continued.

“I know feeling so incredibly small in this world it can be really, really difficult to feel like anything you can do can make a difference. I promise you, I see it all the time in the little things that you do and the way that you treat each other. How it has affected all the people around me, how it has affected people out there, it is so much bigger. It does not end when this tour ends. I want you to continue it. Put love out into the world. It needs it a bit right now,” he said at the time.

Before this release, Styles’ most recent music video arrived in the spring of 2023 with the visual for “Satellite,” the fourth and final single from Harry’s House. That album was released in 2022 and spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard 200.
