Britney Spears has shared that she feels “secretly cleverly abused” because of her strained relationship with her two sons.
The Stronger singer, who is the mother of Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, revealed earlier this week that over the past five years, she has seen one son for only 45 minutes and had just four visits from the other.
She revisited the topic on Instagram on Thursday night, posting a heartwarming video from Internet personality Austin Geter of his young daughter excitedly showing her bedroom.
In the caption, Britney wrote, “Parenting tips !!! It takes two seconds to call the one you love there's 24 hours in a day and 365 days a year you can tell your child you are proud of them and love them even if they haven't done anything !!!”
She continued, “Ps I genuinely wonder what that would feel like I'm serious !!! Would I feel more confident and not alone and prettier and not secretly cleverly abused to the (point) it would drive anyone crazy !!! I'm serious though if I had a family that respected me I genuinely think the world would be a different place 100 percent !!! God speed my beautiful babies !!! I love you more (sic).”
The 43-year-old has made headlines recently due to a public clash with Kevin, who shares his side of their family story in his upcoming memoir You Thought You Knew.
Earlier this week, Britney released a statement saying she has “had enough” of what she calls Kevin’s “constant gaslighting” over her relationship with their sons.
“The constant gaslighting from (my) ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” she wrote on Instagram. “I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys. Relationships with teenage boys is complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”
Britney and Kevin were married from 2004 to 2007. His memoir is set to be released on October 21.
