Country singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly is officially engaged to his partner, Tia Cubelic.
The Mockingbird artist proposed backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, a place deeply tied to the roots of country music.
Kelly shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a series of photos with the caption, “Me and my best bud became best buds who are getting married.”
While on stage at the historic venue, he told the audience that his partner had just said yes backstage.
“Her family’s here, my family’s here. And right under a picture of Johnny Cash, I had to pop the question,” he said.
The couple first met in June 2024 when Cubelic was on a family vacation in South Carolina. During their conversation, they discovered they lived in Nashville, only a short 10-minute drive from each other.
Kelly was previously married to country star Kacey Musgraves from 2017 to 2020. The couple ended their marriage citing irreconcilable differences, explaining that their relationship “simply didn’t work.”
After their split, Kelly left Nashville for a time before returning to the city in 2024, embarking on tour and beginning a new chapter.
In September, he released his album Pale, Through the Window, a 13-track record he described as a deeply personal project inspired by his new fiancée.
