Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry has accepted a plea deal just one day before jury selection was set to begin in his murder trial.

The case involves the alleged killings of Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams.

This development comes while rapper YNW Melly remains in custody as he waits for his retrial on the exact charges.

Bortlen had been facing two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm and two counts of accessory after the fact.

According to Complex, the plea deal means he will no longer face life in prison. Instead, he has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by six years of probation. He also agreed to provide information to prosecutors going forward. As part of the agreement, he pleaded no contest to the accessory after the fact charges, while the first-degree murder charges were dismissed.

An attorney representing the family of YNW Sakchaser commented on the plea deal through social media.

“As predicted, YNW Bortlen took the plea deal. He also agreed to a proffer, which means he’s talking,” the lawyer wrote.

YNW Melly continues to sit in jail as he awaits a retrial. His initial trial ended in a mistrial after the jury could not reach a unanimous decision. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Melly rose to fame with his 2018 viral hit single Murder on My Mind.
