ImSoTyRell is a multifaceted artist in every sense. With music that caters to a variety of lanes and a web series on YouTube, he’s someone who wants his fans to get to know him in multiple ways. His latest single “Big Plays” is one that takes the music in a motivational direction which is an intentional contrast to his last single “Walk Away From Me.” Additionally, his web series titled Make Some Noise began in March and new episodes have been dropping since then.

ImSoTyRell wrote “Big Plays” because he had some things to get off his chest. While still remaining motivational, he shared the track captures him venting. It’s layered with his thoughts on the past, present and future.

Through passionate delivery and triumphant melodies, ImSoTyRell’s words stick with the listener whether he’s rapping the verses or the hook. Each line gives them a glimpse into where his mind was at the time and by listening to his words, listeners can make their own moves.

“I want people to feel inspired and motivated to keep going. I want them to know they don’t have to change who they are and they can remain authentically themselves.” he said.

ImSoTyRell spoke on how different types of tracks require different writing processes for him. A track like “Big Plays” is full of raw emotion and thus required more intention and effort on his part. Meanwhile, a track like “Make Her Walk Away” is still written with intentionality - but from a different angle.

“I actually wrote that tone while I was on my way to the studio. I knew I wanted something catchy and in the pop lane.” he said.

With so many tracks in the vault, ImSoTyRell is ready to release more that fit in the lane of “Big Plays.” His preference is music with a message but he also understands that it’s easier to build an audience with more accessible songs then ease into ones with more depth.

“I try to deliver a message in all my songs. I have unreleased ones that I like more but as an artist, you have to know your audience. You have to start with something that’s still you but also not too far from what they already know. You have to bring them in slowly…like giving milk before the meat.” he said.

ImSoTyRell understands the mark of a great artist is remaining authentically yourself. His music represents him and will always do so. While other trends continue to dominate the music world, ImSoTyRell sticks to what he knows and what works for him.

“I have multiple layers musically and I respect every genre people are in musically. That's why I love hip hop so much because it has so many subgenres. I don’t talk about the street life but my family was a part of that but I personally and purposely avoided it. My web series Make Some Noise touches on that from the industry side with labels wanting my character to become an artist that wasn’t my authentic self.” he said.

ImSoTyRell enjoys showcasing multiple aspects of himself to connect with his audience. Outside of music, he also created a web series called Make Some Noise which he not only wrote but also stars in. The series was created in partnership with The Fly Family production company which is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I was talking to The Fly Family production company and they explained how in today’s climate, rappers have to do more than music. We have an established relationship since I've worked them on some of my other music videos too. Seeing other artists who have developed television series inspired me and I decided I would create my own. I wrote eight scripts for it. I contacted The Fly Family again and they expressed their interest in creating it with me so they could expand beyond doing music videos. So, it worked out for both of us. I took acting in high school and went to a performance art school in New York and have a background in several aspects of the arts. So with the show I was able to utilize all those experiences and everything I was taught back then.” he said.

Make Some Noise is not an exact depiction of Tyrell’s personal life but moreso commentary on the music industry itself and just the various trials and tribulations of life. His own music is woven into the show as well as music from other artists on the come up like he is. By showcasing himself on the show, people get to know him as an artist and a person outside of the music while still seeing him in a different area of the entertainment lane.

Tyrell was sure to extend his thanks to not only The Fly Family production company but also all the people involved in the web series both in front of and behind the camera.

ImSoTyRell’s future plans are to create until he can’t anymore.

He’s got several singles out and wants to build his audience more so he can release a full project.  He’s got episodes of Make Some Noise continuing to come out on a monthly basis with a slight increase in this release schedule planned. He’s also in talks with DJ Calvin Da Coordinator from Atlanta to host a workout mixtape.

Whatever he puts out will represent him authentically and be something he enjoys - and others will too. Discipline is the key aspect that keeps ImSoTyRell moving forward.

“I stopped looking for motivation and started looking at discipline. Motivation comes and goes but discipline is something you do day in and day out. When it comes to music and entertainment, it’s something I love so much that I’d do it for free. Some artists get hung up on getting attention and reception instantly and I believe we should put the work in because we love to do it.” he said.
