MOBO and Help Musicians team up for a new career accelerator

Emerging musicians making music of Black origin in the UK have a new source of support: a career accelerator launched by MOBO (of awards fame) and charity Help Musicians.

It’s called MOBO Help Musicians Amplified and will be a 12-month accelerator for participating musicians, DJs and producers.

They’ll get up to £3k to fund their music; six hours of one-to-one business advice from industry experts; online meetups and an in-person mixer with peers; and other support.

MOBO and Help Musicians developed the scheme after research showed that only 20% of musicians from ethnically diverse backgrounds feel they have equal access to career progression. It builds on their previous work together.

“Our longstanding partnership with Help Musicians has already unlocked close to £1 million in direct support, and this new chapter takes our commitment even further,” said MOBO CEO Kanya King.
