Emerging pop artist, Har’Monique treats listeners to a sultry R&B single titled “One in A Million.” The single captures Har’Monique’s vocal prowess while taking listeners on a musical journey with unexpected turns and a happy ending.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Har’Monique is a versatile singer and songwriter who weaves her skills across genres. She easily shifts from pop to R&B, impressing fans of both genres.
Growing up, Har’Monique was fond of writing novels, exploring her creative side. It wasn’t until 2013 that she shifted her storytelling to music. “That’s when I met my ex, who was into engineering music,” laughs Har’Monique. While she may have been inspired in the early days by his knowledge and invitation to sing on his tracks, Har’Monique has come a long way—and she has done it on her own.
Over the past decade, the singer and songwriter has diligently worked on track after track, never feeling that her music was quite ready to share. She alternated through stages of creating and recording until she had a catalogue of music ready to be listened to. “I took a year’s pause of reflecting and seeing if I wanted to continue to do this,” shares Har’Monique of a brief hiatus following her breakup and spurring her to find her own path in music. “But he didn’t pen this work. I did. I want to make sure my babies [songs] sound good and are up to par. Then I let them get out there and do what they have to do.”
This is a moment of hard-earned pride for Har’Monique, who can finally see her music take flight. “One in A Million” stems from a moment circa 2017. Over the course of two days, Har’Monique wrote the song, giving vocal support to the beat and overall sound. “It was moving to me. I love how it flowed. I thought, ‘I love it. I gotta write to it,” shares the artist. Then, she came up with the lyrics and vocalizations, working to elevate the R&B feel. “I wanted to make it a little sexier.”
When it comes to songwriting, Har’Monique relies on a tried-and-true method. “It comes down to so many elements. I have words, melodies, hooks. Then I get an engineer to do his part. Someone to master it. Someone to do video and promotion,” she explains of the multifaceted project that is being a musician. “When I’m beat shopping, if I like a sound, I’ll write to it. I love music so much, I get detached. It’s less about me and more about the sound and capturing it the best way I can.”
“One in A Million” is a reminder to a significant other that you will be treated like the one in a million—no exceptions. It’s about finding somebody and recognizing who your special person is and doing everything in your power to not take them for granted or make them feel unwanted.
In addition to “One in A Million,” Har’Monique is looking forward to sharing more music with listeners over the coming year. Her upcoming, self-titled album features 23 tracks. “It’s a lot of material, so everyone can get a sense of my sound,” she adds, emphasizing her versatility.
