Heatstroke is the modern version of your favorite Classic Rock band. Based in Sudbury, Ontario, this group takes their love of Rock music to a whole new level. The band has recently come out with their debut album, a concept project called Empire Statement. This new collection of tracks is sure to catch your eye and leave you dying for more.
The band Heatstroke formed in October of 2021 as the original project of long time friends Troy Kirkwood and Orion Anderson. “We had known each other since ninth grade and were always looking to get something started,” Westover explained. “It wasn’t until we made it to college, though, that things really started coming together.” The duo pulled together a tight knit crew of passionate musicians and got to work on their first album.
The band’s first project was a concept album about life in the big city. “Empire Statement is about a boy’s life growing up in New York City,” explained Kirkwood, the band’s drummer and co-founder. “I’ve always been in love with the city and it seemed like the perfect setting for our album.”
The album features a variety of different tracks, from ballads to high energy Rock hits. “‘Central Park’ is definitely one of my favorites,” explained lead singer Orion Anderson. “It is the love song on our album and its the one I really spent the most time with, perfecting and getting it exactly where I wanted it.”
The band’s bassist, Hunter Larabie noted that the song “Brownsville” also has immense importance to him. “I stepped away from the band while they were creating this album, so that I could focus on school,” he explained. “Because I didn’t have a hand in writing the album, I really have just been involved in performing the songs, and ‘Brownsville’ is just the most fun, high energy track for me.”
These songs, along with tracks such as “Time Square Claire”, “Broadway” and many more are just the tip of the iceberg for this incredible group of young musicians. The band is already looking forward to being able to share their next project with their fans and you are not going to want to miss out.
Heatstroke was excited to start their career off with a concept album, creating a storyline that could both showcase their creativity and their incredible skill as musicians.
