Rap/R&B duo, It’s A Cool Day brings the soul back to Hip Hop with the release of their new single, “Butterfly Effect,” from their debut ep You’re Welcome. Drawing inspiration from their heartfelt conversations while separately falling in love, this track explores the complex emotions felt during the early stages of a relationship. Artful lyricism, lush melodies, and relaxing overtones transport listeners on a romantic and nostalgic journey through love, intimacy, and vulnerability. This track is undeniably charming, making it the perfect summer jam for warm nights, beach escapades, and afternoon drives.

“It’s all about the butterflies you get in your stomach when you are embarking on a new love,” explains the duo. “You don’t know what this is yet, but you're focusing on all the right things to say and do.”

A refreshing male perspective on matters of the heart, “Butterfly Effect” draws from the lived experience of Day Underscore and The C.o.o.l, reflecting on their profound journeys of love and commitment. The shared experience launched the “Butterfly Effect" and simultaneously strengthened their bond, creating what Day calls a “fraternity of creation.” Reflecting on what made their partners, "the one," sparked the melody for the chorus; the rest flowed organically.

Driven to infect the minds, hearts, and souls of listeners with truth and integrity, the single boasts a narrative depth that leaves a lasting impression. The lyrics reveal a double entendre in the song title, “Society's planted more seeds than watermelon did,” a reference to the Butterfly Effect theory that simple things matter in complex systems.

“It’s the medicine in the candy,” says the duo addressing their honest approach to storytelling. A fitting reference as the song poses questions around human connection, social engineering, and the role of media.

It’s A Cool Day is the brainchild of industry veteran Greg “Olskool Ice-Gre” Lewis (Abstract Mindstate), the very first A&R of Good Music and a twenty-three-year creative collaborator to the artist formerly known as Kanye West. From the very start, Olskool sensed an undeniable synergy between C.o.o.l and Day, where their style and delivery seamlessly fused, and as it turns out, his intuition was spot on.

Produced top to bottom by Day Underscore, You’re Welcome takes an introspective look at our social landscape – how it has evolved in response to, and at times, despite technology. With this project, It’s A Cool Day makes every moment count, leaving no space wasted in the seven-track EP they aptly describe as "a Ted Talk for the new age." In a season when toxic narratives seem to saturate the public discourse, the album offers a haven to unpack topics of intimacy, friendship, and love. A celebration of black love, the music strikes a chord with listeners, fostering a sense of connection and understanding.

Hailing from the Windy City of Chicago, the duo comprised of Derion Scroggins, a.k.a Day Underscore, and Craig Lowe, a.k.a The C.o.o.l (Chase Opportunity or Lose), are here to challenge the status quo. Day is a second-generation artist. He caught the bug from his father, a working musician during the 90s and early 2000s. While touring with his father, he discovered his love for production and writing, prompting Day to start honing his craft at just 14 years old. C.o.o.l took a different path. A natural wordsmith, C.o.o.l began spitting rhymes from an early age, but it wasn't until eighth grade that he ventured into production. By high school, he moved on to other musical formats, including Opera. However, it was during a transformative trip to Thailand that C.o.o.l rediscovered his true love – Hip Hop.

Nurtured and developed by the great minds at Honest Music, “Butterfly Effect” and the accompanying promo video are available across all music streaming platforms. On the eve of Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary, officially recognized as August 11th, the two lyricists look forward to leaving their footprint on the culture. They see their work as the bridge between tradition and modernism and a reminder that Hip Hop is not a monolith – “from the righteous to the ratchet, and the earthy to the quirky; we are all Hip Hop,” shared the duo.

Recently nominated for a Hollywood Independent Music award, It’s A Cool Day promises much more on the horizon, including new visuals and appearances in a city near you from North America to overseas.
